ONE SIGNED ELEGANTLY FRAMED DOUBLE-MATTED
11" X 14" PHOTOMONTAGE--THIS IS A SINGLE COPY, NOT
A PUBLICATION--(which means that you may not copy it
or distribute it free or for consideration, by
any known or unknown means) OF A FEW OF MY PHOTOS
OF VARIOUS HIGH-LEVEL ROCK STARS OF THE 60's
(the Average Age of our
present band is "dead") TAKEN WITH THIS AND MY TWO
OTHER MAMIYAS (which I'm keeping; I'm retired and
really only need them for occasional visiting royalty).
To anticipate your question: had two Hassies, one to
shoot with and one to keep in the shop, until I
discovered the hassle-free Mamiya with the crispest
lens I've ever shot with! I used to do a column for
Photo, so I've at least tried the very best!
Was editor of Mod Teen Magazine, "14" and grimly
waited for my boss to decide to publish "13", "12",
and "11" but mercifully he went under sometime in
1969, the Summer of Love, which I do not remember;
I was there.
Played the clubs in LA with my band, wrote and shot
photos extensively 1967-69 for Monkee Spectacular
and Tiger Beat, went on gigs with my fave raves
Annie Moses and Anne Moore, whom I met through my
buddy Jimmy Morrison. Was PR for Bill Graham, Harry
Nilsson, Family Tree, Prunes, Byrds, etc. etc. and
managed groups for a while, then, thoroughly disgusted
with the Major Labels, depressed over the loss of
three close friends, Cass, Jim and Keith, (two of
whom died in Harry's brass bed in his "#9" flat in
London) retired from the field forever to
go into art and books, with a private studio of my
own where I turn out tiny runs of 25 each of stuff,
plus play with friends like Harry--we made two
albums one of which had Iko Iko on it, two weeks
prior to his death--albums which
will probably go unheard by man or beast. We also
did a video duet of "Lay Down Your Arms" which he
wanted to donate to the Coalition for Gun Control,
but alas, that can now never happen, sigh, along
with his video reminiscences of times past and his
recording of Bob Sheckley's new sci fi story
that Harry read for the blind. The Galaxy Blind Project
was actually his idea. Did you know that Harry finally
achieved his wish to be a Galaxy Writer, and was
actually published in Galaxy Sci-fi magazine before
his death? Yep. I have a photo of him reading it in
the published issue.
Well, that's the story. Raising money for charity,
I looked around and decided to part with
Something Cherished
!
Hmmmm...must be on a Buddhist Trip today.
Peace.
