Ah, cover ideas...! Harry had a million ideas, but only one real concept for his first RCA album. The first album, recorded at Capitol, was bought back from Capitol so Harry would be free to sign with RCA. Harry's all-consuming thought was that it would be named after one of our friend's--science-fiction writer Ray Bradbury--most famous stories, later made into a tv film, "Something Wicked This Way Comes". So we set about to photograph it. He, Diane, my wife Linda and I were driving around looking for a likely location. Out by Malibu, we found it -- a diminutive Western Ghost Town. The centerpiece was an incredibly beautiful half-ruined Victorian Merry-Go-Round, which we used to advantage in several well-known shots, one of which was featured on the back of the remastered CD, "Pandemonium Shadow Show" and once the original title had been rejected by the Powers-That-Be which resided at RCA New York--close relatives of the Network Executives, believe me--Harry wanted that carousel shot to be the cover, but alas, the cover that was selected was by the new RCA Art Director, Dick Hendler. Harry was to be outvoted by RCA executives several hundred more times, including sqeezing Harry's 3-Disk compilation into two, and sort of naming it what he wanted, if you squint and look sideways a while. That's why I think MP3 is the answer to an indie musician's prayer.
